If you are a parent, then you understand the urgency of wanting to keep your kids as safe from danger as possible. But what many parents tend to neglect is what is right under their nose: their kids’ bath toys. That’s right. Many of us get so caught up in wanting to keep our kids safe from external elements that we forget to pay attention to what is right in front of us. Because bath toys spend a considerable amount of time under water, they are susceptible to the formation of mild and mildew. Here are a few bath toys cleaning tips for your convenience:
- Use some vinegar. Before anything else, make sure that the toys are completely dry prior to the cleaning process. Next, put them inside the dishwasher with ¼ part vinegar and ¾ parts hot water. Once the bath toys have been rinsed with plain water, allow them to dry completely. If you do not have a dishwasher, create the same solution and allow the toys soak in it for around 10 minutes.
- Pull out your clean swipes. Clean swipes are great for cleaning bath toys especially if you do not have much time on your hands. Alternatively, you can also use a damp cloth and some soapy water to do the trick.
- Throw in one part bleach and 10 parts water in a bucket. Allow the toys to soak for about five minutes before thoroughly rinsing them with soap and water. Do this about once a monthly only as bleach is not too mild.
- Get rid of bath toys with holes in them. These can present as a danger because your child might end up sucking the toy and drinking some soap while he is at it. Having said that, check his or her toys on a regular basis.
Of course, you can also opt to hire a cleaning service to get the job done quickly and thoroughly and have the rest of your home tidied up as well. This is a convenient option for those who are very busy with their schedules or are faced with an insurmountable mess.
